In another trending video, locals filmed a police officer directing traffic during the heavy rain. Despite the flooded streets and ongoing storm, he remained at his post. Notably, the footage shows the officer standing without shoes.

The officer's dedication drew a strong reaction online. Many users thanked him for his service and praised his commitment to his duties.
"Well done, he needs an early promotion or a bonus," "Great job, Astana police," "A bonus for new shoes," and "Pure nostalgia, it was exactly like this in 2018," users wrote in the comments section under the video.
Others noticed that the officer was barefoot and expressed concern for his well-being.
"His feet must be frozen, why didn't he wear rubber boots?" one user commented.
We reached out to the press service of the Astana Police Department for comment and to clarify the circumstances under which the officer was serving. No response had been received at the time of publication.
The Astana Akimat's press service stated that city utility services are operating in an enhanced mode due to heavy precipitation and flash flooding.
"The city's storm drains and treatment facilities are coping with the high volume of precipitation. Temporary minor flooding is observed in some areas; however, the storm drainage system typically clears water within 40 minutes to an hour after heavy rainfall," the agency shared.

The department emphasized that utility crews are constantly working on cleaning storm drains, steaming pipes, and building infrastructure.
"Utility services are continuously cleaning collectors and catch basins, steaming pipes, and constructing storm drainage systems and treatment facilities," the press service added.
