Astana to cool down as Almaty faces 37°C heat

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have presented the weather forecast for Almaty and Astana for August 14, 15 and 16.

In the coming days, the weather in Astana and Almaty will differ significantly. While cooler weather, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the capital after the heat, Almaty will remain very hot, with temperatures rising to +37°C.

Weather in Astana

On August 14, partly cloudy conditions are expected in Astana, with no precipitation. Temperatures will range from +14°C to +16°C at night and from +32°C to +34°C during the day. Southeasterly winds will reach 7–12 metres per second, with daytime gusts of up to 15 metres per second.

On August 15, it will be partly cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms expected during the day. Temperatures will range from +16°C to +18°C at night and from +32°C to +34°C during the day. Northeasterly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second.

On August 16, rain is expected at times, with possible thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from +16°C to +18°C at night, while daytime temperatures will drop to +23°C to +25°C. Northwesterly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second.

Weather in Almaty

On August 14, partly cloudy conditions are expected in Almaty, with no precipitation. Temperatures will range from +23°C to +25°C at night, while intense heat is expected during the day, with temperatures reaching +35°C to +37°C.

No significant changes are expected on August 15 and 16: partly cloudy conditions with no precipitation. Temperatures will range from +22°C to +24°C at night and from +34°C to +36°C during the day. Northwesterly winds will reach 3–8 metres per second.
