“Can’t wait”: legendary forward on joining Satpayev’s team
The 39-year-old Premier League champion with Leicester City joined Burnley over the weekend. Vardy said he is already eager to play his first match for his new team.
“This club has a proper footballing history and passionate fans who deserve a team that represents them and their town. I can’t wait to get going on the pitch and help the team move in the right direction,” he said.
Kazakhstan national team winger Dastan Satpayev has also been playing for Burnley since the start of this season. He has already made four appearances for the club and was named Player of the Match in one of them.
Who is Jamie Vardy
The English forward has a unique career story. Until the age of 25, he played for non-league clubs and lower-division teams, although he had trained at Sheffield Wednesday’s academy as a child.
Leicester signed him from modest Fleetwood Town, and he went on to become one of the team’s leaders as the club sensationally won the Premier League three years later.
In 2021, Vardy lifted another trophy — the FA Cup. He also stayed with the club after its relegation from the Premier League and helped Leicester return to the top flight in the 2023/24 season.
Vardy also has 26 appearances for the England national team and featured at Euro 2016.

Satpayev misses match as Burnley suffer defeat
It is worth noting that Burnley has struggled at the start of this Championship season, going five matches without a win. Additionally, the team has been knocked out of the League Cup.
Kazakhstan's Dastan Satpayev suffered an injury during the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough and missed the subsequent match against Bristol City. Burnley held an early lead in that game but ultimately lost 1-2.
According to Burnley manager Nicky Hayen, the winger will be sidelined for several weeks. It remains unclear whether he will recover in time for Kazakhstan's upcoming international fixture on September 26.
