President of Kazakhstan receives Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNMC

Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly commended the participation of China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group, a company with extensive international experience in the mining and metallurgical industries, in developing Kazakhstan's industrial potential.

The President emphasized the vital importance of launching the construction of a copper smelter at the Aktogay field, which is designed to provide additional momentum to the economic development of the Abai region and Kazakhstan’s manufacturing industry.

As the Head of State noted, China is one of Kazakhstan's key strategic and economic partners in trade and investment, and today's project launch serves as clear evidence of the steady progress in cooperation between the two nations.

In turn, CNMC Chairman Wen Gang thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the trust placed in the execution of this large-scale project and for his personal participation in the ceremony.

Wen Gang assured the President of Kazakhstan that CNMC would complete the construction work to a high standard and on schedule using advanced technologies. Special attention will be paid to strict compliance with industrial and environmental safety requirements.

According to him, the implementation of the project will create new jobs and expand cooperation in training local personnel and exchanging expertise.

Following the meeting, it was noted that this project will become another successful example of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, and will pave the way for further joint work in metallurgy and high-value processing.

As a reminder, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev launched the construction of the Aktogay copper smelter via video link today. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, the President described the construction of the metallurgical plant in the village of Aktogay in the Abai region as one of the most significant projects.
