Schoolboy mocks classmate for being late to class: Father held responsible by court

0

Tengrinews.kz – A district court in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl Region has issued an official warning to a local resident over the bullying behavior of his underage son.

The incident occurred in September at a school in the Zhualy District. An eighth-grade student arrived late to class, prompting a classmate to mock and humiliate him.

The boy called his classmate a "shepherd who tends sheep" and claimed that he had been late because he was grazing livestock.

The district administration's Commission on Juvenile Affairs and Protection of Minors' Rights confirmed that bullying had taken place and decided to hold the student's parent accountable.

During the court hearing, the boy's father admitted guilt and promised to prevent his son from engaging in similar behavior in the future.

His responsibility was also established through statements from the parties involved, an official report and documentation submitted by a local police inspector. The court found no aggravating or mitigating circumstances.

Under Part 3 of Article 127-2 of Kazakhstan's Code of Administrative Offenses, which covers bullying and cyberbullying of minors, parents or legal guardians may receive a warning or a fine of 10 monthly calculation indices (MCI), equivalent to 43,250 tenge in 2026.

The court found the father guilty and imposed an administrative warning rather than a fine.

The court's ruling has entered into legal force.
