Sanso’s romance with water has been a lifelong thing. It continued at the age of four where “we crossed boundless bodies of water and oceans to move to our newfound home the Philippines.” The Sanso family left a Europe devastated by the Great Depression and a Spain on the brink of a destructive civil war to seek their fortune 11,000 kilometers away. The move proved fortuitous as Sanso’s father Jose Sanso y Pedret, a metal sculptor ended up founding what later proved to be one of the success stories in the metal furniture business, Arte Espanol.
