Despite warnings issued by government health authorities about the harmful effects of taking a dip in the heavily polluted waters of Manila Bay, many Manila residents still came to beat the heat Sunday by taking a swim at the two-kilometer stretch of shoreline on Roxas Boulevard, while others contented themselves with holding picnics or just frolicking in the world-famous bay walk.
