Malacanang on Tuesday expressed condolences on the passing of former Senate President Ernesto Maceda, and at the same time honoring him for more than five decades of public service. Coloma recalled how Maceda served country and fellowmen in various capacities. “The late Senate President Ernesto Maceda distinguished himself as a legislator, Cabinet member, and ambassador through more than five decades of dedicated public service,” Coloma said. Maceda, 81, died Monday night (June 20, 2016) due to multiple organ failure. Maceda served the country at the young age of 23 when he was elected as a Manila councilor in 1959 and was named “Outstanding Councilor of Manila.” He was also the youngest member of the Cabinet of the Marcos administration.
