The Philippines has regained its reputable image in the international community thanks to the efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Filipino people. At the 118th anniversary celebration of the DFA Wednesday, the President recognized the accomplishments of the department, under the leadership of then Secretary Albert del Rosario and now Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, for fostering good ties with other countries as well as looking after the welfare of Filipinos abroad. “With the reliable service of the DFA personnel and the cooperation of other sectors and our bosses, the country has redeemed its good image abroad and more importantly, we have regained our national pride,” the President said. “If before, we were ignored as member of the international community, today we are one of the countries being looked up to.
