Williams presence at Las Vegas GP no longer in doubt

0

Amidst swirling rumors suggesting a potential absence from the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix, Williams has dispelled the speculation, unveiling a modified livery for its FW46 car that underscores the team's commitment to next week’s event.

The Grove-based outfit has faced a tumultuous period during Formula 1’s recent triple-header in the US, Mexico and Brazil.

While the team emerged unscathed from its weekend in Austin, even earning itself a championship point at the Circuit of the Americas thanks to rookie Franco Colapinto’s P10 finish, Williams was hit with a massive repair bill and a depleted inventory of spare parts in the wake of its visits to Mexico City and Interlagos.

Alex Albon suffered a heavy crash in FP1 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and a race-ending collision with Yuki Tsunoda on the opening lap of the race on Sunday.

In Sao Paulo last time out, the Anglo-Thai racer suffered a major accident in Sunday morning’s wet qualifying that ruled him out of the race due to irreparable damage.

Adding insult to injury, Colapinto also had a crash-filled weekend in Brazil, with a significant qualifying incident followed by a red-flag-triggering accident in the wet race.

The succession of incidents, compounded by a tight turnaround, inevitably pushed the Grove-based outfit’s resources to the brink and led to speculation that Williams might be sidelined for Las Vegas.

However, the team’s unveiling of a fresh livery on Friday, designed in collaboration with sponsor Keeper Security, served as a de facto confirmation of Williams’ presence on the grid next week in the entertainment capital of the world.

“Formula 1 represents the pinnacle of technology, speed, and innovation,” said Darren Guccione, CEO and Co-founder of Keeper Security, as the updated livery was revealed.
“Keeper’s brand presence on the Williams Racing engine cover at the Las Vegas Grand Prix celebrates the team’s technical mastery and elevated design. It further showcases Keeper’s dedication to securing the team’s and our customers’ most sensitive digital assets.”

With its new livery and a determined approach, Williams has turned the spotlight away from the swirling rumors and back onto the track.

While the road to Vegas has been anything but straightforward, the team’s commitment to competing at the highest level is clear.

As fans await the glitz and glamour of F1’s return to Las Vegas, Williams will hope to make a strong statement—not just with its livery but also with its performance under the lights of the iconic Strip.
