Plane crash in Aktau: Delegation from Azerbaijan arrives
The delegation, which includes rescuers, psychologists, and prosecutors, is led by the Minister of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
"Governor of Mangystau Region Nurdaulet Kilybay and representatives of the Azerbaijani government have worked on the appropriate measures that will be taken as part of the rescue operation," the statement reads.
The governor of Mangystau region reported that the injured citizens are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
The first reports that the plane flying from Baku to Grozny requested an emergency landing in Aktau appeared at 11:20 A.M.
According to the press service of the Grozny airport, the reason for the change in route was thick fog. The plane was first redirected to Makhachkala, and then to Aktau.
Initially, it was reported that the plane made a hard landing, but later it was confirmed that the aircraft had crashed.
According to media reports, the cause of the disaster was a collision of the plane with a flock of birds.
