Temperatures in Kazakhstan to drop to -25°C before rapid warming
Tengrinews.kz - Meteorologists have issued a forecast for Kazakhstan’s weather on January 7, 8, and 9.
On January 7, the weather across most of Kazakhstan will be influenced by a southern Caspian cyclone carrying large amounts of moisture. Snow, blizzards, and occasional heavy snowfall are expected in the northwest, north, east, and central regions. In the southwest, south, and southeast, precipitation in the form of rain and snow is predicted, with heavy rain and snow likely in the mountainous areas of the Turkestan region.
By the night of January 8, cold air masses will move in from the west, driven by an anticyclone, causing a sharp temperature drop. In the northern half of the country, nighttime temperatures will fall to -15°C to -25°C, while in the south, they will range from -5°C to -15°C. In the mountainous regions of Almaty and Zhetysu regions, temperatures could plummet to -20°C to -25°C.
"However, by the afternoon of January 9, temperatures will rise again, reaching 0°C to -5°C in the northern half of the country and up to +5°C in the south," forecasters said.
Strong winds, fog, and icy conditions are expected throughout Kazakhstan.
Forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
