Nearly 30 criminal authorities have been detained in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of nearly 30 criminal authorities in Kazakhstan.
According to the Polisia.kz website, the ministry continues its work aimed at ensuring law and order in society, as well as combating crime.
"In the last two years, over 120 criminal cases have been identified and registered regarding the creation, leadership, and participation in organized criminal groups (OCGs), including 13 transnational groups. Over 600 members of the criminal underworld have been held accountable under various articles of the Criminal Code," the publication stated.
It is explained that 27 members of OCGs, known as criminal authorities, who were on international wanted lists, have been detained. Additionally, the presence of six "thieves-in-law" from neighboring countries on the territory of Kazakhstan has been stopped.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has dismantled the illegal activities of 160 criminal groups involved in extortion and other serious crimes. More than 1300 criminal cases have been initiated on extortion charges, and over 400 crimes related to human trafficking have been uncovered.
"The Ministry will continue its decisive and principled fight against organized crime groups," the ministry emphasized.
