Tokayev set tasks for the head of the National Academy of Sciences
Akylbek Kurishbayev informed the President about the main results of the Academy of Sciences' activities over the past year:
he reported that in 2024, comprehensive work was carried out to assess the state of domestic science and determine priority areas for its development;
he said that last year, 113 scientific and technical assignments for program-targeted financing were examined and 3 integrated interdisciplinary scientific and technical programs were developed.
"Kasym-Jomart Tokayev noted that it is necessary to continue to take systemic measures to increase the potential of domestic science. A decree was recently signed granting the National Academy of Sciences the status of the highest scientific organization under the President. The government was instructed to expedite the resolution of legal issues related to the implementation of this decree," the press service of Akorda said in a statement.
Science funding has increased 3.5 times, a new law "On Science and Technological Policy" has been adopted. Social support measures for young scientists have been strengthened. On the instructions of the Head of State, they are provided with housing.
