“Gathered in just 3 days“: Almaty residents helped Botanical Garden

Tengrinews.kz - The Almaty Botanical Garden recently reached out to Kazakhstanis for help in feeding birds. However, the initiative wrapped up in just three days.
According to the Almaty Botanical Garden, a sufficient amount of bird feed was collected in a short time.

"Thanks to your compassion and active participation, we managed to gather over 200 kilograms of feed in just three days! We are grateful to everyone who contributed—pensioners, schoolchildren, entire families, and even people from other cities who sent supplies. Our collective efforts will help our feathered friends survive the harsh winter days," the statement read.

The organization also urged residents not to forget about feeding birds beyond the garden’s territory.

"We want to remind you that birds are not only in the Botanical Garden but all over the city, and they all need care. We would be delighted if you continue feeding birds in your courtyards, parks, and squares," the garden representatives added.

Earlier, the Botanical Garden estimated that 20 kilograms of mixed grains was enough to sustain the birds for a week. From mid-January to the end of March, approximately 200 kilograms of feed is needed. It was also noted that birds require unsalted and unroasted seeds or ready-made grain mixes—fresh and free from rancid odors. More details about the initiative can be found here.
