Embassy in the US warned Kazakhstanis about the tightening of rules

Tengrinews.kz - The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the USA has made a statement in connection with the tightening of US immigration policy aimed at strengthening border security and reducing illegal immigration.
In this regard, the diplomatic mission urged Kazakh citizens in the United States to comply with the current requirements of the American authorities.

"Dear citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan residing in the United States! The measures taken by the US authorities concern foreign nationals who have entered the country illegally (those who entered without a valid visa or green card) and illegal migrants currently residing in the United States. Along with compulsory measures such as detention and deportation with restrictions on re-entry to the US, social benefits, work permits, and other privileges will be revoked," the statement reads.

As noted by the embassy’s press service, the measures taken by US authorities primarily concern foreign citizens who are in the country illegally, including those who entered without a valid visa or green card.

"We would like to draw attention to the fact that US authorities are providing foreign nationals without legal grounds to stay in the country (lack of a valid visa, residence permit (green card), and other documents) the opportunity to voluntarily leave the United States. This measure will allow citizens to avoid the procedure of forced deportation and entry bans when reapplying for a US visa," the embassy clarified.

Other new measures include:

The reinstatement of the "Remain in Mexico" policy – migrants crossing the US-Mexico border and applying for asylum in the US are required to remain in Mexico while their case is being reviewed by US immigration courts.
The termination of the "catch and release" policy, meaning the end of the practice where migrants detained for illegally crossing the US border were released into the country until their court hearing. This category of migrants will either be held in specialized centers, returned to their countries of origin, or sent to third countries (such as under the "Remain in Mexico" program).
The termination of the use of the CBP One app as a method for conditional early release (parole) or easing entry for foreigners who would otherwise be banned from entering the United States.
