Will fishing be allowed on Lake Sairan after reconstruction?
Tengrinews.kz - Rumors and comments occasionally circulate online about whether fishing will be permitted on Lake Sairan in Almaty. Tengrinews.kz inquired with the press service of Almaty’s akimat (government administration) to clarify the matter.
As is known, reconstruction is currently ongoing at the location.
"According to the order of the Ministry of Agriculture 'On the approval of the list of fishery water bodies and (or) areas of international and national significance,' the Sairan reservoir is not classified as a fishery water body. Accordingly, a fishing zone is not provided," the akimat stated.
It was also clarified that the arrangement of existing beaches is planned, including the addition of new sand and the installation of equipment. The territory will feature five public restrooms, two police stations, and two rescue posts near the beaches. Notably, there are plans to establish rental points for water transport.
According to the akimat, the improvement project is designed for comfortable family and individual recreation.
What is planned for the Lake Sairan area?
Children's playgrounds with safe equipment, a winter ice rink, and a green amphitheater overlooking the reservoir and birds.
Sports zones: a skate park, velodrome, and outdoor exercise equipment.
Installation of gazebos, benches, and trash bins, as well as the planting of lotuses, flower beds, trees, and various grasses, along with the development of a dog-walking area.
It is worth noting that in September 2024, the akimat announced that the project completion and the commissioning of the embankment were planned for May 2025, following the spring planting of vegetation. The updated embankment is expected to accommodate more than three thousand visitors at a time. According to the akimat’s latest data, the reconstruction is proceeding according to plan.
