Tokayev signed decree on conscription for compulsory military service
Tengrinews.kz – President Tokayev has signed a decree on conscription for mandatory military service, citing a statement from Akorda.
The head of state signed a decree "On the discharge of conscripted servicemen who have completed their term of military service and the next conscription of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan for mandatory military service in March–June and September–December 2025."
In accordance with subparagraph 11 of paragraph 2 of Article 5 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and Article 31 of the Law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen," the decree states:
To discharge from service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Security Committee, and the State Security Service in March–June and September–December 2025 those conscripted servicemen who have completed their required term of military service.
To conscript male citizens aged 18 to 27, who are not eligible for deferment or exemption from service, into the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Security Committee, and the State Security Service in March–June and September–December 2025.
Local executive bodies are to organize and ensure the conscription process through the respective local military administration offices during these periods.
The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Security Committee, and the State Security Service are to arrange financial and logistical support for the deployment of conscripted citizens to the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Security Committee, and the State Security Service for mandatory military service, as well as for the discharge of servicemen who have completed their required term.
This decree comes into effect on the date of its first official publication.
