Every sixth car fails environmental inspection in Almaty
Tengrinews.kz - In 2024, nearly 205,000 vehicle inspections were conducted at environmental checkpoints in Almaty.
According to checkpoint staff, 34,708 vehicles (17 percent) were found to exceed the permissible levels of toxicity and smoke emissions. More than 31,600 administrative protocols were issued against violators.
Experts note that the number of such vehicles has been gradually decreasing in recent years. While in 2020, the share of polluting cars exceeded 20 percent, it has now dropped to 17 percent.
