How many World War II veterans remain in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has revealed how many World War II veterans currently live in Kazakhstan.

According to the ministry, as of July 1, Kazakhstan is home to 80,932 veterans, including:
96 World War II veterans (WWII);16,630 veterans equated in benefits to WWII veterans;26,580 veterans of combat operations in other countries;37,626 home front workers during WWII.
Earlier, the ministry reported that as of April 1, 83,048 veterans lived in Kazakhstan, including 111 WWII veterans.
Payments in 2025: who receives what
Since the beginning of 2025, 8.5 billion tenge has been allocated for special state benefits to these categories of citizens. A total of 17 billion tenge is planned for this purpose this year.
Monthly special state benefits from the republican budget are paid to all categories of veterans, regardless of other social payments, in the following amounts:1. WWII veterans – 16 MCI (62,912 tenge in 2025);2. Veterans equated in benefits to WWII veterans:
Persons equated in benefits to those disabled due to wounds, concussions, injuries, or illnesses sustained during WWII – 7.55 MCI (29,687 tenge in 2025);Persons equated in benefits to WWII participants – 6.19 MCI (24,339 tenge in 2025).
3. Veterans of combat operations in other countries:
Participants of combat in Afghanistan – 6.19 MCI (24,339 tenge in 2025);Military personnel involved in guarding the CIS border on the Tajik-Afghan section, participating in international peacekeeping in Iraq, or resolving interethnic conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh – 4.8 MCI (18,874 tenge in 2025).
4. Home front workers during WWII – 2.13 MCI (8,376 tenge in 2025).
