Tengrinews.kz – A resident of Aktau reported to Lada.kz that she had discovered several dead seals washed ashore near the village of Bautino.
According to the woman, six seal carcasses were found along the coastline, with fishing nets tangled around two of them. Photos show that the bodies were in various stages of decomposition.

Following her report, specialists from the Department of Ecology for the Mangystau Region conducted an inspection along the Caspian coast on November 3.
According to the agency, a joint patrol with the regional fisheries inspection discovered a total of 112 Caspian seal carcasses along the Tupkaragan district coastline—from the village of Asan to Cape Bautino.

Experts from the department’s Laboratory and Analytical Control Department also collected seawater samples along the shores near Fort Shevchenko and Bautino for analysis.

“From the village of Asan to Fort Shevchenko Beach — 39 carcasses, and from Fort Shevchenko Beach to Cape Bautino — 73 carcasses. The information was reported to emergency service 112 on November 3, 2025, in accordance with the alert protocol,” the department stated.

Earlier, in April 2025, during a separate coastal monitoring effort, the Zhaiyk-Caspian Interregional Fisheries Inspection discovered 88 dead seals washed ashore in the same district. At the time, specialists noted that the carcasses were too decomposed to allow proper sample collection for laboratory testing.
