Tokayev issues instructions to the energy minister

Tengrinews.kz – The Head of State received Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov, the press service of Akorda reports.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the situation in the country’s fuel and energy complex, the progress of key projects, and plans for further sector development.

The President was informed about the steady dynamics of oil production. He was also briefed on plans to increase oil refining as part of expansion projects at the Shymkent refinery from 6 to 12 million tonnes per year, the Atyrau refinery from 5.5 to 6.7 million tonnes, and the Pavlodar petrochemical plant from 5.5 to 9 million tonnes.

Erlan Akkenzhenov outlined plans for commissioning new energy capacities by 2029. This year, it is planned to complete the construction of CHP-2 in Almaty, as well as power plants based on combined-cycle gas turbine units in Kyzylorda and Turkistan regions. Information was also presented on the progress of the national project “Development of Coal Generation”.

Following the meeting, the President gave a number of instructions on the further development of the fuel and energy sector, including the timely and high-quality implementation of planned projects in the oil and gas, petrochemical and electric power industries. He also stressed the importance of actively introducing digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies to ensure the efficient operation of production facilities.
