Earthquake occurred in Almaty region

Tengrinews.kz — The country’s Emergency Ministry reported that an earthquake was recorded on April 8, 2026, at 10:55 p.m. Astana time.
The tremor was registered by the network of seismic stations of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Research and Information under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.

“The epicenter was located 117 kilometers northwest of Almaty, in the Ili District of Almaty Region,” the statement said.

In the village of Kurty in Almaty region, the earthquake was felt at an intensity of 2 points.
No information has been received about casualties or damage.
