Bij een brand in een manege in het Friese Wolvega is asbest vrijgekomen. De kankerverwekkende stof zat in het dak van een stal die in vlammen is opgegaan, aldus de brandweer. Onduidelijk is nog in hoeverre de deeltjes in bewoond gebied terecht zijn gekomen. Niemand is gewond geraakt.

A civil claim filed in B.C. Supreme Court this week reveals a clash of titans over the Plaza of Nations site, one of the most valuable pieces of developable land left in downtown Vancouver. Hong Leong Oei, a Singapore-based businessman and son of Indonesian billionaire Tjipta Widjaja, is suing Terry Hui, chief executive of the Concord Pacific Group, and its affiliated Concord Pacific Acquisitions Inc.
