Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that transgender people should be able to use whatever bathroom they feel appropriate, criticizing the "problems" emanating from a controversial new North Carolina law.

Trump was asked during a Thursday town-hall event on NBC's "Today" show about North Carolina's law, which has been painted by critics as anti-transgender. It directs transgender people to use public bathrooms that match the gender on their birth certificates.

• The euro erased its gains after jumping by as much as 0.8% to 1.1385 in the immediate aftermath of the European Central Bank's announcement. The EBC left both its key interest rate and deposit rate unchanged at 0% and -0.40%, respectively.
