High-speed trains in Japan, also known as shinkansen, are far more than mere transportation from point A to point B — they can also function as fast-moving art galleries.

One train in particular cobbles together the works of groups of artists and photographers into a cohesive collection that riders can enjoy.

Detroit museum outdoor art effort heads to northern Michigan

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit museum's effort to bring art to unexpected places will feature installations in Alpena and Traverse City as well as on Mackinac Island. In Alpena, reproductions of Vincent van Gogh's "Portrait of Postman Roulin" and John Singleton Copley's "Watson and the Shark" go on view; Mackinac Island hosts "Dancers in the Green Room" by Edgar Degas and "Self Portrait" by Paul Gauguin.
