(Reuters) - U.S. weapons maker Northrop Grumman Corp reported a 16.7 percent rise in quarterly profit, helped in part by higher sales in its aerospace systems business, which makes the center sections of the F-35 fighter jets.

The company's shares were up 2.02 percent at $223.96 in premarket trading on Wednesday.

Northrop also raised its 2016 earnings forecast for the third time to $11.55-11.75 per share from $10.75-$11.00 per share.
