A car bomb exploded at the entrance of a beach-side restaurant in the Somali capital Mogadishu, police said.

Mogadishu - A car bomb exploded at the entrance of a beach-side restaurant in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Thursday, police said.

“A car bomb exploded at the entrance of Beach View Café at Lido beach,” Major Abdiqadir Ali, a senior police officer, told Reuters. “We are investigating.”

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. In the past Islamist group al-Shabaab has carried out similar attacks across Mogadishu, often targeting hotels and restaurants popular with government officials.
