MTN store robbed in Goodwood

Three armed assailants made off with an undisclosed number of cellphones after robbing the MTN store in N1 City.

Cape Town - A business robbery investigation is under way after three armed assailants made off with an undisclosed number of cellphones on Sunday morning when MTN in N1 City, Goodwood, was attacked.

N1 City is the latest in a string of malls to be targeted by armed assailants in the past few months. Thirty members of a cellphone robbery syndicate allegedly involved in incidents across Gauteng and the Western Cape were arrested in July.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that on Sunday just before 10am, three assailants targeted a “cellphone shop in a shopping mall in Goodwood”.

“The suspects fled the scene. No one has been arrested at this stage.”

N1 City’s centre management declined to comment on the incident at the time of going to print.
