Sunshine Stars’ one year home ban in the Akure Township has been overturned by the League Management Company (LMC), goal.com reports.
The Akure based team had faced the wrath of the LMC in November last year following the unruly nature of their fans in the clash against Lobi stars.

Fans of the home team stormed the pitch and attacked match officials in the clash against Lobi Stars in the 77th minute of the game for failing to award a penalty.
According to Lobi Stars on their Twitter handle (@lobistars), the official camera man of the team was attacked, beaten unconscious and his camera destroyed. He was immediately rushed to hospital.
Following the ban, the team went ahead to play their remaining home games in Lagos and they were fined the sum of five million Naira (N5m).
LMC lifts one year ban in the Akure Township, home ground of Sunshine Stars
Media officer Wahab Bankole told Goal.com: “I’m pleased to inform you that Sunshine Stars have been cleared to play their NPFL home games at the Akure Township Stadium.
“This is cheering for us as it will boost our confidence level going into the new season.
“We have learnt our lessons and will do all it takes to prevent a repeat of the occurrence that resulted to the initial LMC action.”

Going by this development, Sunshine stars who finished sixth on the table last season will now play their opening game against Akwa United in front of their fans.
