EXCLUSIVE: 2014/2015 Nigerian Premier League season will be the best in history – Fatai
– The Nigerian 2014/2015 season will go down as the best in history
– Crown FC is a ‘premiership material’
– Officiating at the lower level of the Nigerian league is still a complete nightmare
Osho Fatai, the head coach of Crown United FC of Ogbomosho is a well-known personality in the Nigerian football league circle and he has predicted a smooth run in the upcoming premier league season.
In an exclusive interview with Naij.com Sports, Fatai who managed Kogi United last season disclosed that the 2014/2015 premier league season will be the best so far.
He also revealed his plans in helping Crown FC progress to Nigeria’s elite league at the end of the coming season.
Excerpts:
Naij.com Sports: How has it been managing Crown FC?
It’s been an interesting experience. Knowing new places and people. A beautiful and interesting challenge at that.

Naij.com Sports: Crown FC will be looking forward to gaining promotion to the NPFL at the end the season, how far have you prepared?
Preparation is going on well at the moment. We are presently at the phase of blending the old and new players together. Getting them to understand the playing philosophy in order to form a formidable unit which would be the strength of the new Crown FC of our dream.
Osho Fatai
I have made it abundantly clear to the players that Crown FC is a ‘premiership material’ just like the Kwara United and Wikki Tourists of this world. They don’t stay too long in the second division
Naij.com Sports: Ifeanyi Ubah FC just signed Brazilian players to play in the League, what’s your take on this?
To me, it’s a good development for our league. If we have our players scattered all over the world, then, why can’t we welcome other nationals to our football.
This will actually draw more attention to our league the world over. We should not forget that we are almost the world highest exporter of football talents, so we should welcome foreign players with open arms
Naij.com Sports: So are you planning to sign more players ahead of the coming season?
We have added eight new players to those in the team last season and I’m sure we will excel in the coming season
Naij.com Sports: How can you rate the Nigeria league, the LMC local football in the country
At the premiership level it is getting better but that’s not the case at lower division. Officiating at that level is still a complete nightmare with teams with lean purses being at the receiving end. A level playing field is never created.

A Leicester city would have stand no chance in our lower league with what obtains there.
Lots kudos should be giving to the League Management Company for their courage and innovation. They look like people that know what they are doing and that’s good for our league.
Last premiership season will go down as the best in the history of league so far and I pray they better it in the coming season and hopefully, it continues like that.
Finally, sir please tell us briefly about yourself
