Pikitup workers return to work

|||Johannesburg - Waste removal entity Pikitup on Monday said its workers had reported for duty after three days of protest action in Johannesburg.
Pikitup communications officer Pansy Jali Oyedele said the collection of refuse in the city would resume as per normal. “Areas which were missed last week on Thursday and Friday as a result of the illegal work stoppage and also not prioritised during the weekend, will be serviced as per the areas' normal refuse collection scheduled days,” said Jali-Oyedele.
On Friday South African Workers Union Secretary (SAMWU) General Simon Mathe denied reports that their members had downed tools last week. SAMWU claimed its members had attended a meeting and not been on any illegal work stoppage. SAMWU members have previously clashed with Pikitup management over the continued employment of the company's MD Amanda Nair, whom they accuse of corruption. Nair denies the claims.
