$150million allegation a fairy tale: Amaechi fires back at Wike, queries him
– Rotimi Amaechi has taken a swipe at Governor Nyesom Wike for alleging that he funded APC election
– Amaechi asked why the governor had abandoned his legacies
– Amaechi and Wike have been at loggerheads for sometime as they both belong to different political parties
– Wike had earlier accused Amaechi of looting the state’s funds, saying they would recover it all
Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of Transportation and former governor of Rivers state has expressed regret over allegations of corruption against him by his successor, Governor Nyesom Wike.
According to the minister, the allegations were spurious and deceitful, The Punch reports.
Wike had during a thanksgiving service on Sunday, February 7 alleged that Amaechi used the sum of $150m belonging to the state to fund the All Progressives Congress elections.
In a statement from his media office on Monday, Amaechi faulted the Rivers state governor for picking a church to spread his imaginary tale which according to him was another bogus, fallacious concoction.
The statement read: “This new scurrilous fabrication by Governor Wike is in sync with the one-point agenda of the Wike administration, which is to throw as much mud as possible at former governor Amaechi, hoping that some may at least stick.”

Amaechi had some questions for his successor, wondering why in spite of the billions of naira that had accrued to the state, institutions were been allowed to rot away.
“Rivers people want to know why weeds and grasses have taken over the beautiful schools built by Amaechi? Why the standard working health facilities Amaechi built and left behind are now looking desolate and abandoned?” he queried.
The transport minister noted that the people of Rivers state were worried over the high rate of crime in the state.
He added that no matter the amount of allegations of corruption against him, the Rivers people would not be distracted from pressing issues in the state.
The APC had earlier described Wike’s claim as a big lie from “the very depth of hell.” Chris Finebone, the Rivers state publicity secretary of the party said Governor Wike was a moronic coward who talks big and tough, adding that he would account for all his deeds at the appropriate time.
