Blind man arrested for aiding criminals

– The man who is in his fifty was arrested while trying to secure a bail for a suspected criminal
– He and his accomplice have been handed over to DSS for further interrogation
A blind man who specializes in bailing suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers in Kaduna state has been nabbed by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The man simply identified as Muntari Idris, 50, also known as ‘Barrister’, was arrested alongside Adamu Mohammed by agents of NSCDC at Ungwar-Maigiginya in Igabi local government of the state following a tip off, The Punch reports.
The suspect, it was learnt, claimed to be a businessman with interest in landed property but allegedly specializes in bailing cattle rustlers , kidnappers and other criminal elements in the state.

The spokesman of the NSCDC in Kaduna state, Orndiir Terzungwe on Monday, February 8, disclosed that the suspect denied his involvement in the crime.
The suspect said that he was implicated by his accomplice, one Adamu Mohammed, who had confessed to have accompanied Idris many times to secure bail for suspected criminals.
Mohammed had told operatives of the corps that most of the suspects bailed by Idris were those detained in connection with kidnapping, cattle rustling and other vices.
He also disclosed that he was introduced to the suspect by his late boss, explaining that after he realized who he does for a living, he advised him against it adding that all pleas fell on deaf ears.
He said: “I wish to duly state that I know my present boss, Barrister − as he is fondly called − to be a bailer of offenders especially cattle rustlers and kidnappers particularly last years.

“He asked me to accompany him to State CID twice and many times to Rigasa Station and each time we did, I discovered that he would bail offenders who I realized were suspects of cattle rustling.”
Mohammed pointed out that upon knowing the intention of Barrister’s visit; he refused to accompany him into offices rather waited out thus leaving him to be led by relatives of the suspects to perfect their bail conditions.
The state commandant of the NSCDC, Modu Bubu disclosed that the corps had handed over the suspects to the Department of State Services for further interrogation and prosecution.
