Trouble broke out on Sunday, February 7, in Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti, as students of the school went on rampage leading to the destruction of property worth millions of naira.

Though the cause of the violent protest is still unclear, it was learnt that students broke into the two Cafeterias located at the Owolabi Hall, the Talents Discovery Building, and College of Engineering, destroying the institution’s property.

The Pandemonium that followed forced students and staff to run for safety and the incident was said to have started at 9.45pm and went on still 12:20am, Vanguard reports.
It took the intervention of the state commissioner of police, Etop James to quell the crisis with the deployment of anti-riot policemen.
The situation has, however, being brought under control as men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and anti-riot policemen were stationed in the institution to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
