Delta state government uncovers attempt to defraud the state
– The commissioners urged Deltans to always report unscrupulous activities for appropriate actions

Delta state government said it has uncovered attempts by some unscrupulous persons to defraud the State.
The commissioner for finance in the state, Olorogun David Edevbie in a press release, disclosed that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s swift intervention saved the state from being defrauded during the payment of January, 2016 salary.
According to Efevbie “salaries of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as the Polytechnic staff was delayed due to an alerton Wednesday evening of February 3, 2016 of attempts to defraud the state through the payment of salaries.”

Olorogun Edevbie said, “the Permanent Secretary cum Accountant-General on receiving the threat, immediately informed the Governor who directed that the security agencies in the state, as well as the bank should be informed immediately.”
“He also directed the Permanent Secretary/Accountant-General to put in place, additional control measures to forestall future attempts on the Account.”
While disclosing that arrests have been made, Olorogun Edevbie in the statement read by the commissioner for information in the state, Mr Patrick Ukah emphasised, “this administration has a zero tolerance for fraud and we assure all who have such intent to desist from such.”

The Commissioner made the disclosure at a press briefing after the state executive council meeting in Asaba.
He urged Deltans to always report unscrupulous activities for appropriate actions, reiterating that Governor Okowa’s administration was committed to credible, transparent and accountable stewardship to the citizens.
Meanwhile, following alleged cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, raping and destruction of farms by Hausa/Fulani cattle herders, the Jere kingdom, in Delta state, has directed cattle herders in all Jesse communities to relocate their cattle from the communities not later than February 15.
