A homosexual male was allegedly arrested in Kenya, on Monday, February 8, for sending love messages to a journalist, who he claimed to be ‘in love with his voice’.
The journalist, Mr Victor Kinuthia, who works with the Royal Media Services, had been receiving the love messages from a man identified as 24-year old Geoffrey Mburu.
Mburu had been warned to desist from sending Kinuthia such suggestive messages, and also reported the matter to the police when the messages kept coming.
The suspect allegedly admitted in his messages, that he was gay and in love with Kinuthia’s voice, and declared he wanted to have sexual intercourse with him.
Mburu was cornered when Kinuthia set up a meeting with him at his home, where the unsuspecting Mburu was apprehended by the police officers who were already waiting for him to show up.
“When I got to Githioro, the suspect came smiling and entered the car I was driving, saying he was to see me, we have always heard of cases where men are sodomized but fail to report out of fear or stigma but this is evidence that it is happening.” Kinuthia said.
According to reports, the county commander, Naomi Ichami, has said that he’ll be charged with misuse of a communications device.
