Shooting outside primary school
A 29-year old man was shot and wounded outside Adolph Schauder Primary School in the Port Elizabeth, traumatising teachers and learners.
|||Port Elizabeth - A 29-year old man was shot and wounded outside Adolph Schauder Primary School in the Port Elizabeth Northern Area’s on Friday just before 8am.
A school teacher, who did not want to be named, said it was absolutely terrifying hearing shots go off.
“You think about the children in that moment and people standing around who might get caught between bullets. People live in fear here, and as a teacher I am scared to come to school with the ongoing violence in the area, these gangsters they just don’t care who else could get hurt,” the teacher said.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the man had just dropped off his fiancée, who is a teacher at the school.
Naidu said as the man, who has not been named, drove out of the school gates, shots were fired from a white VW Golf. The man sustained three bullet wounds to his left shoulder and was taken to hospital.
No arrests have been made and police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
