Man, 20, arrested for double murder
A man has been arrested for two murders he allegedly committed in the Western Cape, police said.
|||Johannesburg - A 20-year-old man has been arrested for two murders that he allegedly committed in the Western Cape, police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the crimes, which included three attempted murders, were committed in July 2015 in Kraaifontein.
“Our endeavours to apprehend and have the person responsible for the double murder perpetrated in Kraaifontein during July last year prosecuted finally paid off when a 20-year-old suspect was arrested in Bellville last night,” said Traut.
Nikita Holly and Keshia Manuel were shot and killed and three males were wounded in Petunia Street Scottsville when they were shot at. Police believe the arrested suspect allegedy opened fire on them.
“He fled the scene and managed to evade arrest until last night when our dedicated detectives finally caught up with him, because we will not allow ruthless criminals to get away with their brutal acts of violence,” said Traut.
He has been charged with two counts of murder and three off attempted murder and is due to make his first court appearance in Kuilsrivier Friday morning.
