Lionel Messi will battle Formula one champion Lewis Hamilton, NBA MVP Steph Curry and world No 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award.
Messi lifts his 5th FIFA player of the year award when he was awarded the FIFA Ballon D’or winner on January 11.
Messi continued his remarkable career during 2015 as he led the Catalan club to La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League titles.
Luis Enrique’s side are also in the running to claim the World Team of the Year award.
Sprint king Usain Bolt, NBA star Stephen Curry and golfer Jordan Spieth make up the six-man shortlist for the prestigious award.

World Heavy weight champions Tyson Fury is up for the breakthrough award alongside the Chile men’s national team who claimed the Copa America in 2015.
