“They just want to make money. Nobody is asking anybody any questions. But for the few that approach me I always tell them ‘look, don’t think anybody was born old. You are also gonna get old one day and people are gonna reflect on your career’.
“Especially these days that there’s the internet, unlike our days, every little mistake you make is documented for life. How much of these stunts, that you might feel is the way to get popular, would you want your children to read about when they are 18? How proud of you do you think they’d be?”
Despite the current situation, the Mo Gbo Mo Ya singers singled out YBNL singer Adekunle God for his genuineness and the quality of his lyrics.
He further called on the younger artistes to remain focused on making clean music as it is also possible to achieve stardom without sounding raunchy.
In 2015, the couple disclosed that they would never split even it is for publicity sake.
According to Premium Times, Wunmi said: “How do we explain to our kids whose friends in school will ask them if the split is true?
“Do we say, ‘See daddy and mummy are just playing so we can sell records and make headlines?’
“Ours goes beyond just music. We were members of the same band then became best friends, dated and married, so it’s not going to be easy to split up.”
Edward Babatunde Obe is married to Valerie Omowunmi Obe. The couple met in 1988, dated for 10 years before finally getting married in 1998.
