Dino Melaye representing Kogi west senatorial district senatorial district on Wednesday, March 1 advocated for Nigerian women to be advocated.
While making his contribution to the motion titled the need for patronisation on made in Nigeria goods in Nigeria, he threw shades at Adams Oshiomole for getting married to a woman who was not from Nigeria.
“We will also move in order to encourage the made in Nigeria products in Nigeria, begin to talk about Made in Nigeria women.
“Apologies to my uncle, the governor of Edo state, we must as a people stop paying dowries in dollars and pounds. It is time for my colleagues here to become born again,” he said.

However, Melaye who celebrated Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia south senatorial district went ahead to say that enabling factors must be looked into.
“Its beyond having one made in Nigeria attire and you have over 70 Tom Ford and Loubitins in your wardrobe.
“We must reduce the allocation for made in Nigeria goods and services to the basics. What are those factors limitating the production of this goods. We must tackle them. We must also begin to to look at our legislation them we will begin to talk about made in Nigeria goods,” said Melaye.
Ben Bruce representing Bayelsa east senatorial district also expressed his support for the motion saying that what Nigeria is undergoing at the moment is a good thing as it has made the country find other sources of revenue.
He also commended the senate for leading the trend by example by purchasing Nigerian made cars.
“Poverty is a good thing. What is happening to Nigeria is a very good thing because you appreciate what you have. It makes us think. Creative people are not wealthy people.
“The Senate President drives his made in Nigeria car he has already purchased and people see and wave at him, it is symbolic because people will buy theirs too. Its important we consume what we produce and produce what we consume,” he said.

Sam Egwu representing Ebonyi north senatorial district also supported the motion urged the support of his colleagues. He said that the senate should start by making sure that all the cars to be procured by the senate are Nigerian made.
He also said that all acts of government from the President of the Republic of Nigeria.
While making contributions, Bukola Saraki, the Senate President commended Abaribe for putting the zonal intervention funds into good use
“I believe job creation are is the major issue we suffer in Nigeria. The small steps we take by our own personal commitment towards this is good but our major job is legislation. I think we should not allow that to cloud our judgment,” said Saraki.
Saraki urged the relevant committees to look into the issue of procurement and hoped that the 2016 budget ensures that locally produce goods will be the first option.

However, the senate urged the federal government to initiate and implement the first option policy on purchase of locally manufactured products for any government procurement, in all arms of the government and every public funded organisation.
The senate also urged the National Assembly to amend the procurement act to ensure that government agencies and funded institutions adopt the made in Nigeria goods first option policy.
