Interim Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has promised to clamp down on more players who refuse to adhere to his instructions, like he did to three of his Olympic squad members.

Siasia said that such an action was inevitable believing it was the first step to achieving victory against the Egypt in an AFCON 2017 qualifier in a few weeks’ time.
“We are all working hard now and everybody needs to take a chance now. We do not need the foreign based to come before we start working hard,” he said.

He also made it known that the three players sent out of camp were not expelled but demoted back to his U-23 squad.
“We didn’t send them out I only brought them back to the U-23 team,” he said. “We are in the Super Eagles, when we asked them to move up they delayed looking for visas and all that.
“This is a serious team we don’t have time to mess around that is why we demoted them back to the U-23 team.”
Siasia has a daunting task to overcome the Pharoahs of Egypt in a two-legged affair to boost the chances of the Super Eagles qualifying Africa’s largest football fiesta in Gabon next year.
