The killing of Rivers state APC chieftain along with his wife and son has gotten the attention of the leader of the Senate Mohammed Ali Ndume.
According to him, Gov. Nyesom Wike should be held responsible for the killings.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Ndume said that as the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Wike should be held responsible for the killing.
He said that the senate will continue to condemn such killings in any state adding that Rivers state in particular ought to get more serious with protection of lives and property.

He said: “There is Chief Security Officer there that should be held responsible for all these killings and that is the Governor, he is the Chief Security Officer of the state.
“Any breakdown of law and order there the governor is supposed to be held responsible. The people of Rivers should hold him responsible.
“As the Senate we have condemned what is happening severally, not just in Rivers but anything that is happening that has to do with loss of lives and criminality we stand to condemn it.
“We so not take responsibility for that when there is someone constitutionally responsible for it: constitutionally, the governor of a state is the Chief Security Officer of that particular state.
“Any breakdown of law and order in that state is supposed to be the responsibility of the state governor; he is the Chairman of the Security Council of the state.”

He said that the state could only ask for external support if the circumstances were beyond the governor who is the chief security officer.
The APC’s Ward 4 chairman in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Franklin Obi, was beheaded at his home by masked gunmen at 9 pm. His wife and 18-year-old son, Bestman, were also killed.
