Robert Glasper’s 2012 album, “Black Radio,” put forth a thesis that’s playing out across radio stations today. The pianist and composer collaborated with popular rappers and singers, insisting that contemporary branches of jazz, R. & B., and hip-hop share a potent root—Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy mantel shines in evidence of this. At the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts on March 19, the Robert Glasper Trio will play originals and selects from its new album, “Covered,” featuring songs by Joni Mitchell, John Legend, and Radiohead.
