A back-to-back winner of Sport BC’s senior male athlete of the year after capturing the award for 2015 on Thursday, speedskater Denny Morrison figures he might have a pretty good shot at one of the organization’s other major honours in 2016. Morrison, the multiple Olympic and world championship medallist, nearly died when he crashed his motorcycle into the side of a car in Calgary last May. He broke his right leg, tore an ACL and sustained a concussion, a punctured lung and a small fracture in a bone near his spine. He also bruised his liver and kidneys.
