More content takedown requests come from copyright holders not govts, says Google

Google’s seen a surge in requests for removal of items that infringe copyrights. Between February 29 and March 6 this year, it received a massive 21mn copyright requests, more than a third of such requests since 2012. Google has also received over 26,000 requests from govts to remove content from its products. India figured prominently among them.
