The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has threatened to suspend former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, for organizing a “violent rally” and declaring interest in the 2019 presidential election.

“The state executive committee and elders jointly condemned the character and texture of Kwankwaso’s condolence visit to Kano and its portent objective as a launch pad of his presidential ambition which was wholly unfounded”.

“We wish to state categorically that there is no presidential vacancy in the first place. Our loyalty and commitment is to our able president Muhammadu Buhari and his policies and programmes,” Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, the APC state chairman said.

The news about possible suspension of the ex-governor have undoubtedly triggered mixed reactions among Nigerians. Some people alleged that Kwankwaso and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje are at war now.

Some Nigerians warned the ruling party that Kwankwaso is a very influential politician who can even ruin the APC.

“Kwankwaso performed excellently in kano right from his first tenure while PMB achieved nothing except travelling, APC by touching Kwankwaso you mean to fight his millions of supporters not only in Kano but nationwide. APC be warned remember G7?” Salisu Dan Kasuwa noted.

“He’s forever ahead of you. If there’s no Kwankwaso there won’t be APC in Kano,” Ibrahim Umar wrote.

“Kwankwanso contributed in bringing down PDP. He is a very influential politician. He can bring down APC. So APC be warned,” Norbert Chuks wrote.

Topson Emma expressed assurance that “Kwakwanso is the next president by God grace, because he has been tested with the little position and he has performed excellently!!!” 

“He has the backing of the power that be. They are getting him ready for 2019. Let’s wait and see!” Agbo Ndubui Paul suggested.
