No South Africans among leaked IS recruits

Despite reports that Abu Hurayra became the first SA jihadi in Syria last year, a leaked list of Islamic Stae jihadist names contain none who claim to be South African.

An Islamic State whistleblower leaked 22 000 jihadi recruits’ identities this week.

According to news reports, the whistleblower became disillusioned with the group's direction. The documents include names, addresses, family contacts and other personal information.

There are reportedly no South African names contained in the document despite rumours last year that Abu Hurayra had become the first South African jihadi fighter in Syria.
