No doubt that the war to free Nigeria of the menace posed by the terrorist activities of Boko Haram has in recent times enjoyed the significance and support expected of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Nigerian army through its spokesman Colonel Sani Usman has regularly announced the successes in the war against the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east.

Naij.com has gathered the data of the last month successes recorded by the military in the war against insurgency.

The troops have in February killed at least 192 terrorists while up to 50 were arrested.

Almost two thousands hostages were liberated from the custody of the deadly sect.

Soldiers discovered an extensive weapons arsenal during the last month operation including 49 rifles, 42 grenades, 3 IED workshops, terrorist training manuals, explosive belts, land mines, firearms, and other explosives.

The Nigerian army in a continuation of its offensive operations destroyed all Boko Haram terrorists remaining camps and enclaves around Alagarno and Sambisa forests seizing vehicles, bicycles, horses and other livestock.

Meanwhile, the regular assurances by the Nigerian Armed Forces that terrorism in the Northeast has been “technically defeated” nevertheless, there are still gory images from the area enough to give citizens the impression that all is not well with Nigeria yet.

Despite Buhari’s efforts there’s evidence against claims that the terrorists no longer hold any territory in Nigeria. A senator representing Borno recently told local journalists that Boko Haram still controls about half of the state.

Conflict and political experts said these reports, along with the clear lack of knowledge on Shekau’s location, show defeating Boko Haram will take much longer than Buhari had expected.

The investigation done by the Nigerian journalist Ahmad Salkida, who took part in negotiations with the insurgents during the Jonathan’s government, also denied the military’s huge success, showing that the group showed displaced “extraordinary” resilience.
